Michigan Referee Committee
State Director of Assignors

The requirement to maintain being a USSF certified referee assignor in Michigan is to register with USSF and attend a Michigan Assignor recertification class.

The assignor recertification fee for 2010 will remain the same at $20 if paid online and $25 if paid at the class.  The USSF is still considering establishing grade levels of assignor and various fee levels for 2011.

2010 Assignor Handbook / Class Material – click here to view or download. The Assignor handbook covers both the material for the New Assignor as well as the Recertification Class. Assignors who are participating in the Conference Call Recertification class should print out or have available at their computer part 2 of the handbook, pages 53 thru 89. (If printing you can print 2 presentation pages to 1 handbook page, this is done by: 1) Selecting File - Print, then 2) Page Scaling - Multiple Pages, Pages per Sheet - 2, Page Order - Vertical, and finally check the box Print Page Border and Auto Rotate (this should get two pages over each other on each printed page)

As you noticed we will continue to have Recertification via a conference call meeting. This method was very well received last year. This approach reduces the traveling cost and time for this annual meeting.  The MRC has decided that 2 of 3 years the Assignor can recertify through a conference call meeting. This will allow all of you more options to recertify. You have three conference call meetings and two traditional meetings to choose from.

Pre-Registration for one of these classes is required for recertification.

Please, send eMail to the State Director of Assignors (gilurban@aol.com) to register for MRC Recertification classes. Follow the steps explained in the Process, Information and Expectation paragraphs below.  Also, you should have received a letter from US Soccer with directions on USSF Registration/Payment.

Process, Information and Expectations:
To be a certified Assignor in 2010, assignors must follow a two step process (USSF Registration and Recertification).  Both activities must be accomplished to be a certified Assignor in 2010:

1. USSF Registration Process:
Assignors should receive their 2010 Assignor Renewal Information letters from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) in October.  The letter will provide instructions on how to register with the USSF to be an Assignor in 2010.  Registration process and payment of renewal fees should be completed at www.ussoccer.info. It is required if you are signing up for a Conference Call recertification class.  If you are attending one of the meeting room classes then you can pay at the class.  It is preferred that you preregister and pay over the Internet.

2.  Recertification Process:
Assignors must attend/participate via phone or in person one of the MRC recertification classes listed above. It is expected that you will pre-register with the State Director of Assignors (gilurban@aol.com) to attend a recertification classes.  Each class will be able to handle 40 participants and if you pre-register than you are guaranteed a spot. If you do not pre-register you may still be able to attend if there is open space.

What is needed to Pre-Register for a MRC Recertification Class:

  1. Complete USSF registration / payment online and record the payment Transaction ID and USSF number or save the USSF confirmation email which has both of these items.
  2. Get your Risk Management number. Your RM certification is good for two years. You can check if you have a valid RM certification or apply for a new one ($10.00) at the web site www.msysareferee.net/Risk%20Management.htm
  3. Once you have completed steps 1 and 2 then eMail the class date you want to register for to State Director of Assignors (gilurban@aol.com). Include in the eMail your USSF ID number, USSF registration Transaction ID (or a copy of the USSF confirmation which has both of these items), and you Risk Management number. By doing this you won’t need to provide this information at the class.
  4. There is no additional cost beyond the $20.00 Assignor USSF registration cost for the recertification class.
  5. Upon acceptance of your pre-registration a confirmation will be sent by Gil Urban to you via email with detail class information.
  6. If you can’t complete this Pre-registration via Internet/eMail then contact Gil Urban for a possible exception. gilurban@aol.com or 269-369-7436

If you do not Pre-Register then Items Required at Class:

  1. Bring your USSF 2010 Assignor Renewal Information letter.
  2. If you don’t have your USSF 2010 Referee Renewal Information letter, please bring your 2008 USSF ID card to complete a manual form at the class.
  3. Registration fee/Recertification class costs are $25.00 if paid at the class or, if you paid online, bring a copy of $20.00 proof of payment.  If you are paying your renewal fees at the class, please make check (payable to “MRC”) for $25.00.
  4. Assignors born before 1/1/1992 must bring your Risk Management card.
  5. Not pre-registering is not possible for Conference Call Recertification clinics.  Therefore, pre-registration is required.
